Chelsea have launched negotiations with Paris Saint-Germain to sign French striker Randal Kolo Muani, amid interest from multiple European clubs. The Blues are pushing for a deal as they seek another attacking reinforcement for the new season.

Kolo Muani joined PSG for £76m in 2023 after a prolific spell at Eintracht Frankfurt, but the move hasn’t delivered as expected. After a disappointing first year in Paris and limited minutes, he was loaned out to Juventus in January, where he rediscovered form.

The 26-year-old netted ten goals in 20 games for Juventus and remains high on the Serie A side’s wishlist. However, Chelsea’s entry into the race could shift the dynamic, with reports suggesting they’ve already opened formal talks with PSG.

Kolo Muani is said to be open to remaining in Turin, but Chelsea have emerged as a fresh option with a concrete offer on the table. With Christopher Nkunku expected to depart and Nicolas Jackson struggling for consistency, Chelsea are determined to bolster their forward line.

Manager Enzo Maresca has already added Liam Delap to the squad but wants another proven attacker. Kolo Muani, who has 31 caps for France and played in the 2022 World Cup final, fits the profile of experience and versatility that the Blues need.

Chelsea were previously linked with Hugo Ekitike, but Frankfurt’s £84m valuation proved too steep. That has redirected the club’s attention to Kolo Muani, whose market value remains under that threshold. Interestingly, both Chelsea and Kolo Muani are currently in the United States for the Club World Cup. The striker has already impressed at the tournament, scoring twice in Juventus’ opening match against Al Ain.

With Man United and Tottenham also keeping tabs earlier this year, the competition for Kolo Muani’s signature could intensify. But Chelsea, having qualified for the Champions League and eager to return to title contention, are moving swiftly.

The west London club are expected to continue negotiations during the tournament, where Maresca’s side is set to face Esperance Tunis in a crucial group match. Meanwhile, PSG may be willing to sell if a suitable bid close to their original investment comes in. Chelsea’s pursuit of the French forward may well define their summer window as they attempt to bring firepower and consistency back to their attacking unit.
