Daniele Rugani and Nayef Aguerd could soon be swapping clubs, as Juventus and West Ham United engage in discussions over a potential exchange deal this summer. According to reports from Italy, both clubs are evaluating the possibility of a straight swap involving the two central defenders, each valued around £30 million.
The Moroccan defender Aguerd joined West Ham three years ago from Rennes, but his debut Premier League campaign was marred by ankle surgery. He was part of West Ham’s Europa Conference League triumph but spent the most recent season on loan at La Liga side Real Sociedad. The Spanish club is open to re-signing him, but West Ham reportedly prefer a permanent transfer if he is not in Graham Potter’s long-term plans.
Meanwhile, Juventus are open to parting ways with Rugani, who has failed to cement a consistent starting role since joining the club in 2012. The Italian centre-back spent last season on loan at Ajax and remains on the fringes of the Bianconeri squad, currently participating in their Club World Cup campaign but unused during their recent 5-0 victory over Al-Ain.
West Ham are said to be keen on bringing Rugani to the Premier League as part of the swap, with Sky Italy confirming mutual interest between both sides. Rugani’s experience and technical profile may appeal to Potter as he reshapes the Hammers’ backline.
Aguerd, still under contract, has also drawn interest from Marseille and Bayer Leverkusen. However, with Juventus stepping up talks, they appear to be leading the race for his signature.
If completed, this deal could benefit both parties — Juventus getting a reliable left-footed centre-back and West Ham securing a fresh defensive option with Serie A pedigree.
