Jürgen Klopp’s agent has dismissed recent rumors suggesting that the German manager might be in line for a return to management at AS Roma. After stepping down as Liverpool’s boss at the end of the previous season, citing a loss of energy after nine years in the role, Klopp has remained involved in the footballing world in a different capacity.
The 57-year-old has taken on the position of Global Head of Soccer at Red Bull, emphasizing that he isn’t rushing back into a managerial role. Despite this, speculation has continued to swirl, with his name being linked to several high-profile vacancies, including positions at Real Madrid and the Brazil national team. Last month, his agent, Marc Kosicke, firmly denied these rumors, stating that Klopp had no plans to engage in talks regarding those roles.
Now, addressing fresh reports about a potential move to AS Roma, Kosicke has once again squashed the rumors. Speaking to Qatar-based Winwin Sports, he stated, “Reports on Klopp becoming new AS Roma manager are not true.”
Although Klopp departed Liverpool last season, he hasn’t been distant from the club. In fact, he’s been closely following their successes. After Liverpool clinched the Premier League title under new manager Arne Slot, Klopp took to Instagram to express his joy for his former team. He wrote, “Grateful for the past. Super, super happy about the present [and] extremely positive about the future! Congratulations – YNWA. Thank You Luv.”
Klopp also personally reached out to Slot to congratulate him on his impressive first season at Anfield. Slot later shared details of Klopp’s message, recalling, “The most famous person who messaged me? I assume it was Jürgen [Klopp]!” He revealed that Klopp’s message was filled with kind words, acknowledging Liverpool’s special place in football history.
While Klopp may not be returning to management anytime soon, his continued involvement in the sport and his support for Liverpool highlight his ongoing connection to the game.
