Arsenal’s transfer target, Nico Williams, has hinted at his future aspirations ahead of Athletic Bilbao’s Europa League semi-final clash with Manchester United. The 22-year-old winger, who has impressed this season with 11 goals and 7 assists, has long been linked to the Gunners, but also attracted Barcelona’s interest. His current contract includes a €58 million release clause.
Despite a few injury setbacks, Williams’ performances, especially in the Europa League, have been stellar, with a crucial goal against Rangers securing Bilbao’s spot in the final four. As they prepare to face Manchester United, Williams has expressed his ambitions for both the Europa League and Champions League, aiming for a future with his hometown club.
In an interview with AS, Williams shared: “Every kid wants to play at Old Trafford. Our goal is to win the Europa League and next year, to dominate the Champions League.”
Arsenal, who are targeting a winger, striker, and midfielder this summer, are reportedly leading the race for Williams. They have already held talks with his representatives. However, competition remains fierce with Chelsea and Bayern Munich also in the hunt for the talented Spaniard.
Mikel Arteta remains confident that Arsenal’s current stature will help them attract top players, saying: “Every time we speak to players, they want to be part of it.”
