Liverpool Urged to Sign Isak in Summer Shake-Up

Liverpool legend John Arne Riise has urged the club to strengthen their attack this summer by signing Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak, a player also targeted by Arsenal and Chelsea.

Despite Arne Slot’s impressive start as Liverpool manager, recent struggles in front of goal highlighted by Darwin Nunez’s shocking miss against Aston Villa have sparked debate over whether the team needs a more clinical finisher.

Speaking to Metro via BetMGM, Riise acknowledged Nunez’s work ethic but stressed the need for a consistent goal scorer.

“Sometimes you love watching certain players, and Nunez is one of them. He fights, works hard, and has great energy. But he’s missed too many key chances,” Riise said. “Liverpool are a top club that needs a striker who converts those opportunities.”

With Mohamed Salah primarily playing as a winger, Riise believes a natural striker should be Liverpool’s top transfer priority. He singled out Isak, who has scored 17 goals and provided five assists in 23 league games this season.

While Newcastle have reportedly set a £160 million price tag for the Swedish forward, Riise believes Liverpool could convince him to move to Anfield.

“I’ve seen rumors that he’d love a move to Liverpool,” Riise said. “He plays with a smile, he’s quick, creative, and clinical in front of goal. He’d be a great addition to the squad.”

Beyond the striker position, Riise also called for Liverpool to sign a promising left-back to provide stronger competition for Andy Robertson.

“I think Robertson needs tougher competition,” he explained. “Kostas Tsimikas is good, but he doesn’t push Robertson enough. A young, hungry left-back could motivate him to get back to his best.”

As Liverpool continue their push for the Premier League title, Riise’s comments highlight key areas the club may look to strengthen in the upcoming transfer window.
