Aguero’s Bold Prediction Backfires as Madrid Stun City

Sergio Aguero’s confidence in Manchester City’s Champions League chances may have just cost him dearly—both figuratively and financially. The City legend made a wild claim before their clash with Real Madrid, boldly stating:

“Real Madrid cannot beat Man City. If they beat City, I will cut off my testicles!”

While no one expects Aguero to go through with such an extreme promise, he did suffer a major financial hit after backing City with a hefty bet.

Tuesday night’s Champions League knockout clash at the Etihad was filled with drama. City took the lead twice through Erling Haaland, but Kylian Mbappe equalized in between. With just 10 minutes left, Pep Guardiola’s side looked set for victory at 2-1.

However, Real Madrid had other plans. Brahim Diaz found the net to level the game before Jude Bellingham delivered a stunning injury-time winner, sealing a 3-2 victory for Los Blancos.

Aguero, who was adamant City wouldn’t lose, also placed a risky $10,000 bet on a very specific outcome—two first-half goals. Unfortunately for him, the match didn’t go as expected, and his wager was wiped out.

The loss is yet another twist in City’s unpredictable season. Guardiola acknowledged that his team is struggling to find stability.

“I don’t want to blame any specific player—that would be ridiculous,” he said. “The truth is, we’re not stable enough in these moments. This has happened many times this season.”

Despite City’s past dominance, Guardiola admitted this year has been different:

“We’ve been a machine for so many years, playing every three days. But now, I have to accept that we are not at the same level. I am not doing enough to give the team composure in key moments.”

With the second leg in Spain still to come, City will have a chance to turn things around. As for Aguero, he might want to think twice before making such extreme declarations—or at least avoid any more high-stakes bets.
