Paris Saint-Germain manager Luis Enrique has expressed his hope of continuing to face English opposition after his side defeated Manchester City in an entertaining encounter, despite Erling Haaland scoring twice in the second half.
Enrique appeared pleased with the opportunity to compete against Premier League teams, suggesting that these encounters provide an exciting challenge for his players. The Spanish coach also welcomed the chance to meet familiar faces whenever his team travels to England.
Manchester City fought hard to remain in the contest, with Haaland delivering a second-half brace that demonstrated his threat in front of goal. However, his efforts were not enough to prevent Pep Guardiola’s side from falling to defeat against the French champions.
PSG showed their attacking quality and determination, finding ways to overcome City’s resistance and secure an important victory. Their performance highlighted the threat they can pose against elite European opposition, even when facing a side capable of producing dangerous attacking moments.
For City, Haaland’s goals offered a positive attacking contribution, but the team ultimately could not turn his scoring performance into a winning result. Guardiola will be looking for his players to respond positively after the setback.
Enrique’s comments reflect his enthusiasm for these high-profile meetings, with PSG continuing to test themselves against some of Europe’s strongest clubs. The victory over City gives the French side another significant result, while the English club must assess what went wrong despite Haaland’s impressive second-half display. Tactical adjustments failed to contain the opposition’s fluid counter-attacks, leaving the manager searching for answers ahead of their next crucial European fixture.
