Portuguese Football Federation president Pedro Proença has insisted that the situation involving Cristiano Ronaldo will be handled internally as efforts continue to resolve the uncertainty surrounding the Portugal captain.
Proença reiterated that there is a strong relationship between Ronaldo and head coach Jorge Jesus, despite the forward’s recent decision to leave the national team camp.
The FPF resolves situations internally. I reiterate: there is a very strong relationship between Jorge Jesus and Cristiano Ronaldo. If that weren’t the case, perhaps Ronaldo would have already left our national team,
Proença said.

However, Softfootball understands that the attempts by Jesus and Proença to convince Ronaldo to remain with Portugal have so far been unsuccessful, with the veteran forward choosing to step away from the squad.
The FPF president said the coming days will be focused on calm discussions as both sides look to find a way forward before the next international break.
“Everything that will happen in the coming days will be a time of tranquility, conversation, and discussion, and what we want is for us all to be back with our national team in November,” Proença added.
Ronaldo’s absence has created uncertainty around Portugal’s plans, particularly with the team preparing for another international window in November.
Jesus has previously made it clear that Ronaldo remains part of his plans if the forward wants to return, leaving the final decision in the hands of the five-time Ballon d’Or winner.
For now, Portugal will hope that the conversations between Ronaldo, Jesus and the federation can lead to a resolution, with Proença making clear that the door remains open for the national team captain.
