Cristiano Ronaldo’s wife, Georgina Rodríguez, has appeared to take aim at Portugal head coach Jorge Jesus following the recent dispute involving the Al Nassr forward and the national team.

Rodríguez shared a message on Instagram that appeared to criticise Jesus, writing:

I don’t know how this man can carry the name of Christ (Jesus)

Her post comes amid growing tension between Ronaldo and Jesus after the Portugal captain was left on the bench during the team’s 2-1 Nations League victory over Norway. Ronaldo later left the national team camp, with the Portuguese Football Federation confirming his departure.

Softfootball reports that Jesus has refused to be drawn into speculation over Ronaldo’s long-term international future, including whether the veteran forward could feature at the 2030 World Cup.

Jesus previously said Ronaldo would “never be a problem” for Portugal and explained that the decision over his future would depend on whether he remained available and met the conditions required for selection. Portugal have already qualified for the 2030 World Cup as one of the host nations.

The relationship between the pair has come under increased attention because Jesus previously worked with Ronaldo at Al Nassr. The coach guided the Saudi club to the Saudi Pro League title during their time together.

Ronaldo, meanwhile, has not publicly revealed all the details behind his decision to leave the Portugal camp. He previously said he would explain his reasons at the appropriate time.

The latest developments have therefore added another layer to the situation, with attention now focused on whether Ronaldo and Jesus can resolve their differences as Portugal continue their preparations for the next major international cycle.
