The Super Eagles of Nigeria intensified preparations for Friday’s AFCON 2027 qualifier against Madagascar with their third training session in Uyo on Thursday, September 24, 2026.

Head coach Éric Chelle and his technical crew put the players through an intensive workout at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium as the team fine-tuned its plans for the crucial Group D encounter.
Thursday’s session featured 23 players, with Chelle using the workout to assess his options and make final preparations ahead of the meeting with Madagascar.
Softfootball was unable to capture the team’s second training session on Wednesday, September 23, as the workout was conducted behind closed doors.
The players involved in Thursday’s session included goalkeepers Arthur Okonkwo and Stanley Nwabali, while the defensive group consisted of Isaac James, Emmanuel Fernandez, Benjamin Frederick, Semi Ajayi, Calvin Bassey, Ola Aina, Bright Osayi-Samuel, Chibuike Nwaiwu and Bruno Onyemaechi.
In midfield, Chelle worked with Alex Iwobi, Raphael Onyedika, Frank Onyeka and captain Wilfred Ndidi.
The attacking options present at the session were Moses Simon, Akor Adams, Taiwo Awoniyi, Moses Usor, George Ilenikhena, Ademola Lookman, Tolu Arokodare and Samuel Chukwueze.
With the opening AFCON 2027 qualifier just hours away, the Super Eagles are expected to use their final preparations to sharpen their tactical approach and ensure the squad is ready for the challenge posed by Madagascar.
Nigeria will be looking to begin their qualifying campaign on a positive note when they take on the Barea in front of their home supporters in Uyo.
