A passionate Super Eagles fan has expressed confidence in Nigeria ahead of their AFCON 2027 qualifier against Madagascar at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
Speaking to SoftFootball Media ahead of the highly anticipated encounter, the fan acknowledged that Madagascar may not be considered one of the biggest teams on the continent but warned the Super Eagles against taking their opponents lightly.
He stressed that Nigeria must approach the game with the right mentality, pointing to previous occasions when supposedly smaller nations have caused problems for the Super Eagles, including at home.
According to him, the players must remain focused from the first whistle and avoid any form of complacency because Madagascar will also arrive in Uyo with a plan to compete.
The fan also highlighted teamwork and unity as key factors that could determine the outcome of the match. He called on the Super Eagles players to move the ball more effectively, make themselves available for one another and avoid trying to do too much individually.
He particularly urged the players to be less reluctant to release the ball, insisting that better passing and collective play would give Nigeria a greater chance of breaking Madagascar down.
The supporter believes that if the Super Eagles can combine their individual quality with strong teamwork and unity on the pitch, they should have enough to secure all three points in front of their home supporters.
Reflecting on Nigeria’s previous disappointments against less-fancied opposition, he was equally confident that the Super Eagles would avoid another setback this time around.
“What happened in 2019 will not repeat itself in 2026 here again,” he said.
The fan went on to back Nigeria to record a convincing victory, predicting a 3–0 win for the Super Eagles. When asked about potential goalscorers, he picked Calvin Bassey as one player who could find the back of the net.
With Nigeria beginning their AFCON 2027 qualifying campaign at home, the supporter believes the Super Eagles have an opportunity to make a strong start and give the Uyo crowd something to celebrate.
