A Nigerian football fan shared his reaction with SoftFootball Media after the Super Eagles came from behind to defeat Madagascar 2–1 in their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
The fan was particularly pleased with the comeback, recalling Nigeria’s previous 2-0 defeat to Madagascar at the AFCON and highlighting the significance of securing a different result in their latest meeting.
He also praised the impact of Nigeria’s two debutants, Moses Usor and George Ilenikhena, who both found the net as the Super Eagles overturned Madagascar’s early advantage.
Usor’s winning goal attracted particular attention, with the fan highlighting the midfielder’s rapid rise from academy football in Nigeria to making his UEFA Champions League debut and subsequently scoring the decisive goal on his first competitive appearance for the Super Eagles.
The fan also shared his assessment of head coach Éric Chelle, expressing confidence in the coach and crediting him with bringing greater stability and confidence to the national team. He believes the players now have a clearer understanding of their roles within the team.
Despite the positive result, he pointed to areas Nigeria can still improve, particularly the speed of their play and their tendency to become predictable and slow when in possession.
