Moses Simon addressed the media after Nigeria’s 2-1 comeback victory over Madagascar in their opening 2027 Africa Cup of Nations (AFCON) qualifier at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo.
The match was a special occasion for Simon, who made his 100th appearance for the Super Eagles. During the post-match press conference, the experienced winger reflected on the milestone, his journey with the national team and the people who have supported him throughout his international career.
Simon described reaching 100 caps as a great privilege and a dream come true, admitting that he never imagined he would reach the milestone when he began playing for Nigeria.
He also spoke about the mindset that has kept him committed to the Super Eagles, explaining that whenever he receives a call-up, his focus is to be available and give his best for the country.
Asked how many more appearances he hopes to make for Nigeria, Simon said the decision ultimately rests with God and the coach.
The winger also revealed what has helped sustain his international career, pointing to hard work, passion and the support of his family, friends, fellow Nigerians and the media.
