Softfootball has been informed that Victor Osimhen has received an invitation to join the Super Eagles ahead of the September 2027 Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers, despite still recovering from injury.

Osimhen suffered a groin injury during Galatasaray’s 3–2 victory over Başakşehir on Friday, September 4, 2026. The Nigerian striker was initially expected to miss between two and three weeks after sustaining an adductor injury.
Despite the setback, the Super Eagles technical crew have included Osimhen in their plans and are closely monitoring his recovery before making a final decision on his availability.
If Osimhen regains full fitness before the qualifiers and passes the required medical and fitness tests, he is expected to honour the invitation and join the squad.
However, if he fails to meet the medical requirements, the striker will not report for national team duty and will instead remain with his club to continue his recovery.
The priority is to ensure Osimhen returns to full fitness and remains available for both club and country, rather than rushing him back before he is medically cleared.
