Real Madrid will put their perfect start to the 2026-27 La Liga campaign on the line when they travel to La Cartuja to face Real Betis on Friday night.
Jose Mourinho’s side have collected maximum points from their opening three league matches and currently sit second, level on nine points with Barcelona. Los Blancos have also made a strong attacking start, scoring 10 goals across their first three fixtures.
Madrid began the campaign with a narrow 2-1 victory away to Espanyol before producing emphatic home wins over Real Sociedad and newly promoted Malaga. Their latest success was particularly impressive, with Jude Bellingham opening the scoring before Kylian Mbappe added another goal and Arda Guler completed the 4-0 victory.
Betis, meanwhile, have six points from their opening three games and occupy seventh position. Manuel Pellegrini’s men began the season with consecutive 1-0 victories over Real Sociedad and Valencia, but their momentum was halted in dramatic fashion by a 5-2 defeat against Levante.
Despite that setback, Betis have a reason to be confident heading into Friday’s contest. They have avoided defeat in their last four home meetings with Real Madrid, including a 1-1 draw in April when Hector Bellerin scored a stoppage-time equaliser.
Real Madrid, however, will be determined to end that run and claim their first victory away to Betis since August 2021. With Barcelona not playing until Sunday, a victory would also send Mourinho’s side three points clear at the summit.
Team News
Betis will be without Diego Conde, Aitor Ruibal and Giovani Lo Celso due to injury. Dani Ceballos has returned to the club from Real Madrid but may have to wait for his second debut because of limited match fitness. Diego Llorente, Pablo Fornals and Cucho Hernandez are all pushing for starting roles following the defeat to Levante.
Real Madrid remain without Raul Asencio, Ferland Mendy, Thiago Pitarch and Rodrygo. Eder Militao is progressing from his hamstring injury but is unlikely to return before the international break. Aurelien Tchouameni and Endrick are doubts, while Mourinho could recall Denzel Dumfries, Ibrahima Konate, Bernardo Silva and Arda Guler after resting some players against Malaga.
