Softfootball can confirm that Arsenal have reached an agreement with Newcastle United to sign club captain Bruno Guimarães in a deal worth £75 million.
The Brazilian midfielder, who has two years remaining on his contract at St James’ Park, has been granted permission to travel and undergo his medical after the two clubs reached a full agreement.
Guimarães informed Newcastle earlier this summer that he wanted to join Arsenal if a suitable offer was received. While the Gunners’ opening bid was rejected, negotiations continued and have now resulted in an agreement that will see the 28-year-old move to the Premier League champions.

Newcastle were determined to keep hold of their captain and had the security of two years remaining on his contract, as well as an option to extend it by a further year.
However, Arsenal’s improved offer proved enough to secure a breakthrough, with Guimarães now on the verge of completing one of the biggest Premier League transfers of the summer.
