Former Italy manager Cesare Prandelli has tipped Atalanta to win the Serie A title this season, arguing that the race is far from a two-horse contest between Inter Milan and Napoli. With the top two sides set to clash this weekend, Prandelli believes third-placed Atalanta is well-positioned to capitalize on any slip-ups.

Speaking to La Gazzetta dello Sport, Prandelli acknowledged the psychological boost Inter received after Napoli’s recent defeat to Como. He said:

Napoli’s defeat in Como and the fact that they can show up at the Maradona as top of the table have given Inter a big boost.

Softfootball notes that while Inter holds the advantage, Prandelli warned against viewing the title race as solely between the traditional giants.

He emphasized that Simone Inzaghi’s side must remain focused, as the championship extends beyond this single fixture. Prandelli added:

There’s little to discuss, the situation that has been created is an advantage that the Nerazzurri must exploit. Even though (Simone) Inzaghi and his team know full well that the championship doesn’t end on Saturday.

The former Fiorentina boss insisted that Atalanta possesses the quality to go all the way. He stated:

And with this I’m not just referring to the days that remain to be played, but also and above all to the fact that this is not a two-horse race. Atalanta has what it takes to win the Scudetto.

His prediction adds another layer of intrigue to a tightly contested season where Gian Piero Gasperini’s side continues to defy expectations.
