Real Madrid are actively working on a deal to sign Rodri from Manchester City, with the Spanish giants now operating on the basis that the midfielder could arrive this summer.
Earlier in July, Softfootball reported that sources believed Rodri would be financially attainable for Real Madrid and that the midfielder was keen on a move to the Santiago Bernabéu.
Although club-to-club negotiations have not yet begun, Real Madrid are continuing to monitor the situation closely as they assess the possibility of bringing the Spain captain back to La Liga.
Manchester City remain determined to keep Rodri and are hopeful he will stay at the Etihad Stadium, regardless of whether he signs a new contract.
At the time, club president Florentino Pérez was understood to have ruled out a move despite Rodri’s interest. However, the latest developments suggest Real Madrid are now exploring the transfer once again as they look to strengthen their midfield ahead of the new season.
Discussions remain at an early stage, with no formal talks yet taking place between the two clubs.
