Arsenal manager Mikel Arteta has set his sights on securing a record-extending 15th FA Cup title, as his side prepare to face Manchester United in the third round at the Emirates on Sunday.
The competition holds special significance for Arteta, having won the trophy as a player back in 2014 and later lifting it as manager during his first season in charge in 2020.
Softfootball reports that Arsenal haven’t progressed beyond the fourth round since claiming their record 14th title five years ago. He said:
It’s a massive part of our history. We’ve won it 14 times and it is a competition very attached to us.
It’s a beautiful game to play against a massive club, and a very special occasion as well with the amount of supporters that they’re going to bring, so it’s a very big game.
Arteta also praised Amorim’s impressive start at Old Trafford, despite United’s mixed results this season. He added:
When you look especially at the big teams they’ve played, how they perform and the results that they’ve got, it’s very impressive. I know him well, I followed him a lot when he was in Portugal.
