Newcastle United striker Alexander Isak has been crowned the Premier League’s Player of the Month for December, following an outstanding run of form that fired the Magpies into contention for a top-four finish.

The Swedish forward scored eight goals and provided two assists in six Premier League appearances during the month, finding the net in every single game as Newcastle won four, drew one, and lost only once.

Softfootball reports that Isak’s standout performance came in a hat-trick against Ipswich Town, while he also found the net against Liverpool, Brentford, Leicester City, Aston Villa, and Manchester United.

Isak becomes only the fourth Swedish player to win the award since its introduction in 1994/95, joining Freddie Ljungberg, Johan Elmander, and Zlatan Ibrahimovic on that exclusive list.

He’s also the first Newcastle player to claim the honour since Miguel Almiron back in October 2022, topping an eight-man shortlist decided through a combination of public and expert votes.
