Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca has thrown his full support behind Mykhailo Mudryk, insisting he believes in the winger’s innocence following his provisional suspension for failing a drugs test.
Mudryk, 23, is currently unable to train or play with the club while the situation is investigated by the Football Association, casting uncertainty over his immediate future.
Softfootball gathers that Maresca addressed the media for the first time since the news broke, offering a strong show of support for his player. He said:
We are all upset, sad. We are giving him general support. We trust Mykhailo, when these types of things happen you need to support your player in all the aspects.
Maresca expressed confidence that Mudryk would eventually return to football, despite the uncertainty surrounding the timeline. He added:
I think he is going to come back but we don’t know when. But for sure he is going to come back.
