Leon Balogun has rallied his Rangers teammates ahead of Sunday’s Scottish Cup final against fierce rivals Celtic, insisting anything less than victory simply isn’t acceptable.
Rangers head into the Hampden Park showdown unbeaten in their last nine matches across all competitions, arriving in confident form for the historic Old Firm clash.
Softfootball understands Balogun made his feelings clear about what the occasion means to the squad. He told reporters:
If you look at the recent games, it’s quite simple, we have to win. That would be massive because for most of the players it would be the first trophy at the club.
The defender went further, stressing that finishing as runners-up holds no appeal whatsoever for a club with Rangers’ history and ambition. He insisted:
I think you cannot have that mindset of being pleased with a runners-up medal if you play for Rangers because first is the only thing that matters. Losing doesn’t count. It’s all or nothing.
