Softfootball understands that Manchester City have entered active negotiations to hijack Arsenal ‘s proposed move for highly rated Jeremy Monga from Leicester City.

The 16-year-old winger, who was born in 2009 and has Zambian heritage, is regarded as one of England’s brightest young prospects after making his Premier League debut at just 15 years of age. Arsenal had been leading the race following months of discussions and were believed to have agreed a deal worth around £10 million.

Manchester City are now attempting to overturn the agreement before Monga signs his first professional contract. New City head coach Enzo Maresca is reportedly playing a key role in presenting the club’s long-term project to the player and his representatives.

Known for his exceptional dribbling ability and explosive pace, Monga has drawn comparisons with Jérémy Doku because of his direct attacking style and confidence in one-on-one situations.

The battle for the teenager highlights the fierce competition among Premier League clubs for elite academy talents, particularly following Leicester City’s relegation. With both Arsenal and Manchester City eager to secure his signature, Monga is expected to become one of the most closely watched young players of the summer transfer window.
