Nicolas Jackson is set to return to Chelsea after Bayern Munich decided not to activate the purchase option in his loan agreement.
The Bundesliga champions opted against making the move permanent, with Bayern’s board considering the €50 million buy clause too expensive despite manager Vincent Kompany being satisfied with Jackson’s performances as a backup striker during his spell in Germany.
Softfootball had previously reported in April that Bayern were unlikely to complete a permanent transfer, with indications then suggesting the club would not meet the agreed purchase price. The latest decision officially confirms the Senegal international’s return to Stamford Bridge.
Jackson now heads back to Chelsea at a time when the club continues to assess its attacking options ahead of the new season. His return presents the Blues with an important decision over whether to integrate him into the first-team squad, sanction another loan move, or explore a permanent transfer should suitable offers arrive.

The 24-year-old forward remains highly regarded for his pace, movement, and ability to lead the line, but he faces strong competition for a starting role. Chelsea’s management will now evaluate where Jackson fits into the club’s long-term plans as preparations for the new campaign continue.
