Cape Verde and Saudi Arabia will face off on Friday in a crucial Group H finale at the 2026 World Cup, with both teams still dreaming of reaching the knockout stage.

The Blue Sharks have been one of the biggest surprises of the tournament, remaining unbeaten after two matches. Cape Verde shocked many by holding Spain to a goalless draw in their opening game before earning another valuable point in a 2-2 draw against Uruguay.

With two points, Bubista’s side sit third and know a victory could create history by sending them into the round of 32 on their World Cup debut.

Saudi Arabia, however, enter the match under greater pressure after collecting just one point from their opening two fixtures. The Green Falcons drew 1-1 with Uruguay before suffering a heavy 4-0 defeat against Spain, leaving them bottom of Group H.

Georgios Donis’ side must win to have any realistic chance of progressing, while a draw may not be enough depending on the outcome of Spain versus Uruguay. Cape Verde also need maximum points to guarantee a knockout place, making this a high-stakes encounter.
