A thrilling UEFA Champions League final awaits on Saturday evening as reigning champions Paris Saint-Germain face Premier League winners Arsenal at the Puskas Arena in Budapest.

Luis Enrique’s PSG are aiming to become the first French club to successfully defend the European Cup, while Mikel Arteta’s Arsenal are chasing their first-ever Champions League crown, 20 years after their heartbreaking defeat to Barcelona in the 2006 final.

PSG have once again established themselves as Europe’s most dangerous attacking side this season. After a relatively inconsistent league-phase campaign, the French champions exploded into life during the knockout rounds, eliminating Monaco, Chelsea, Liverpool and Bayern Munich on their route to Budapest.

With 44 goals scored in this season’s competition, Enrique’s side are just one shy of Barcelona’s all-time Champions League scoring record from the 1999-2000 campaign. Their attacking trio of Ousmane Dembele, Desire Doue and Khvicha Kvaratskhelia has terrorised defences throughout Europe.

Meanwhile, Arsenal arrive in Hungary unbeaten in Europe this season and full of confidence after finally ending their 22-year wait for the Premier League title under Mikel Arteta. The Gunners overcame Bayer Leverkusen, Sporting Lisbon and Atletico Madrid to reach the final and have recorded a remarkable nine clean sheets during the campaign.

Their recent 2-1 league victory over Crystal Palace also extended Arsenal’s winning streak across all competitions to five matches heading into the biggest game of the season.

Interestingly, Arsenal defeated PSG during last season’s Champions League league phase before Enrique’s side later eliminated them in the semi-finals, adding extra emotion and revenge motivation to Saturday’s showdown.

Arsenal’s official X account has gone ahead to post about the team’s last training session in London on May 28, 2026, ahead of the Champions League final. Arsenal is preparing for a potential historic double by competing in Europe’s premier club competition final.

Team News

PSG are expected to receive a major boost with Dembele likely to recover from the calf issue that forced him off during the final Ligue 1 game of the season. Nuno Mendes is also expected to be fit despite a thigh concern.

However, Achraf Hakimi is expected to miss the final through injury, meaning Warren Zaire-Emery could operate at right-back.

For Arsenal, defensive concerns remain significant. Jurrien Timber has not featured since March due to a groin injury and remains doubtful, while Ben White has already been ruled out.

Arteta is expected to restore Bukayo Saka to the starting lineup after Noni Madueke recovered from a minor hamstring issue.

Both sides enter the final with tremendous momentum, but PSG’s experience in major European occasions and their devastating attacking depth could prove decisive. Arsenal’s defensive organisation will make this extremely competitive, though the French champions may edge a dramatic contest.
