Callum McFarlane Praises Chelsea Growth as Santos Reacts to Spurs Victory

Callum McFarlane has reacted positively after Chelsea secured a crucial 2-1 victory over Tottenham Hotspur in a tense Premier League London derby.

Softfootball gathered that goals from Enzo Fernández and Andrey Santos sealed all three points for Chelsea despite a late response from Richarlison for Tottenham.

As shared on the club’s official YouTube channel, speaking after the match, McFarlane admitted he was impressed with Chelsea’s performance and described the experience as a positive one for the team. When asked what the win meant to him, he responded:

It was really important. we know we have to win our last two games to give us the best chance to get into…, well before tonight it was champions league but after tonight is to get as high up the table and get europa league as possible. So it’s a massive win for the season. Also , the fans, we know how much of an important game this ia at this club. we are happy we could put that performance and get that result for the fans.

The interim coach praised Enzo Fernández for once again delivering in midfield, highlighting the Argentine’s consistency and influence during key moments.

However, McFarlane also made sure to credit the entire squad for their commitment and collective effort throughout the contest. In his comments:

Enzo delivered tonight like he always does. he was immense. I think the whole team , the effort, the commitment, the night was everything we need for the last two games

Reflecting on Chelsea’s progress in recent months, he emphasized that there has been significant improvement within the group despite earlier setbacks during the campaign.

The Chelsea interim manager, who had earlier described the appointment of Xabi Alonso as an exciting new chapter for the club, maintained that the players remain focused on finishing the season strongly.

Meanwhile, Andrey Santos reacted emotionally after scoring his first Premier League goal for Chelsea. The Brazilian midfielder described the moment as “special” and admitted he was delighted to achieve the milestone in such an important derby match.

It’s special for me beacause it was my first goal in the premier league. My first game against spurs. So, I’m so happy because we won this game and have to move on to the left game.

Santos revealed that before facing Tottenham, he carried out research and asked questions to better understand the importance of the fixture for Chelsea and its supporters.

Discussing the atmosphere at the stadium, Santos called it “amazing” and expressed hope that next season would continue with the same positive energy following difficult moments earlier in the campaign.
