Arsenal’s 2–1 loss to Southampton in the 2025/26 FA Cup quarter-finals has reaffirmed Softfootball’s earlier stance. Arsenal will only win the Premier League if they work extremely hard.

Softfootball had earlier maintained that Arsenal’s season is similar to Liverpool’s 2024/25 campaign. Liverpool topped the Champions League group phase, just like Arsenal did, but were knocked out in the knockout stage.

They also reached the Carabao Cup final and lost, similar to Arsenal, who lost 2–0 to Manchester City in the 2025/26 Carabao Cup final. Both teams were also knocked out of the FA Cup. The only difference is that Arsenal are still in the Champions League.

Arsenal’s only real hope this season is now to focus on winning the Premier League and possibly try again next season if they fall short.

They will need to do everything possible, especially with Manchester City in strong form. Pep Guardiola will likely be looking forward to the upcoming clash between City and Arsenal.

Arsenal will need to galvanise quickly as they prepare to face Sporting CP on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
