William Saliba has suffered an ankle injury that will see him miss upcoming international fixtures with the France national football team.

Saliba recently played the full 90 minutes in Arsenal FC’s 2–0 defeat to Manchester City in the Carabao Cup final. However, Softfootball gathered it has since emerged that he sustained a left ankle issue, forcing his withdrawal from France’s fixtures against Brazil national football team and Colombia national football team.

The development was confirmed by Fabrizio Romano on his official x handle, with Maxence Lacroix called up as his replacement, marking a first senior selection for the Crystal Palace defender.

Fabrizio stated:

William Saliba suffers ankle problem and will miss upcoming France games. Maxence Lacroix will replace Saliba, first call for Palace defender as @FabriceHawkins reports.

Arsenal’s injury concerns have also been compounded by a setback for Eberechi Eze, who will miss England national football team matches against Japan and Uruguay due to a calf injury. Manager Mikel Arteta confirmed that further scans will determine the severity.

The double injury blow is a major concern for Arsenal as they push for silverware, currently sitting top of the Premier League with a nine-point lead over Manchester City while chasing multiple trophies this season.
