Tottenham Keep Close Eye on Luka Vušković as Teen Star Shines on Loan at Hamburg

Tottenham Hotspur are watching Luka Vušković’s progress in Germany with growing excitement as the teenage defender continues to impress on loan at Hamburger SV. At just 18, the Croatian centre-back is already being tipped internally as a future pillar of Spurs’ defence, and his performances this season are doing nothing to cool that belief.

Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano shared the development in a post made via his official X account.

He posted:

Tottenham are constantly monitoring Luka Vusković progress and HSV Hamburg and very happy with his performances on loan.

After seeing off Brentford in the Premier League 2-nil, Tottenham shifted their attention to another victory, this time in the Champions League over Slavia Prague, a victory Xavi Simons revealed that he enjoyed immensely.

Vušković has featured 13 times for HSV so far, scoring twice and logging serious minutes in both the Bundesliga and the DFB-Pokal. The move to Germany came after his long-awaited arrival at Tottenham in July 2025, following a £12 million deal agreed with Hajduk Split back in 2023.

Despite a promising pre-season in north London, including a goal and an assist against Reading, and brief appearances on the bench in both the Premier League and the UEFA Super Cup, the youngster made the call to chase regular football.

That decision is paying off. Since joining Hamburg on loan in late August 2025, Vušković has started 12 of his 13 matches, racking up around 1,200 minutes. His first goal came in a tight 2-1 win over Heidenheim, before another followed in a wild 3-2 victory against Werder Bremen. But it was his outrageous scorpion-kick strike against Freiburg on December 7 that really turned heads. The goal went viral almost instantly and even made Tottenham’s official loan highlights — not bad for a centre-back.

At 1.93 m tall, Vušković brings real physical presence and aerial power. Hamburg staff have been quick to praise both his attitude and maturity, calling him worth the hype in more than one interview, as gathered by Softfootball.

The player himself admitted recently that life at HSV has exceeded his expectations, adding that the dressing room has helped him settle quicker than he imagined.

Tottenham remain closely involved behind the scenes. Vušković has confirmed regular contact with Spurs, who see him as a long-term project under a contract that runs until 2030. Interest is already building from other European clubs, including Borussia Dortmund, but Spurs have no plans to cash in.

On the international stage, things are moving fast too. Vušković made his senior Croatia debut in June 2025 and even started a crucial World Cup qualifier in November.

As Hamburg prepare for their next test against Hoffenheim, one thing feels clear, Tottenham’s patience with Vušković could soon pay off in a very big way.
