Newly appointed Tottenham head coach Thomas Frank has voiced his belief in Dominic Solanke’s potential, tipping the striker to deliver goals consistently under his system next season.
Frank, who signed a three-year deal last week after ending his successful stint at Brentford, is settling into his new role at Hotspur Way. Despite inheriting a squad that won the Europa League under Ange Postecoglou, Spurs endured their worst-ever Premier League season and now turn to Frank to lead a fresh rebuild.
The Dane is already evaluating his players and thinking through tactical plans ahead of Tottenham’s first pre-season match away at Luton Town on July 26.
“I’m a big fan of Dominic Solanke in terms of his abilities,” Frank said. “I’m sure we’ll make him score a lot of goals. He’s one of several players I believe we can develop further.”
Solanke struggled for consistency last season, netting just nine times in the league. However, Frank sees the 26-year-old as a key component in his vision for a balanced, attacking Spurs side.
“It’s a very talented squad,” he continued. “When you’re outside looking in, you see fantastic moments from this team. Now I’m inside, I want to truly understand the players—how they connect, how we can maximize their output.”
Frank also emphasized his focus on both established names and emerging talents. He highlighted the need to extract top-level performances from experienced players like Rodrigo Bentancur and James Maddison, while nurturing younger names like Archie Gray, Destiny Udogie, and Lucas Bergvall.
“It’s about development,” Frank noted. “If we make the individuals better day by day, the team will improve, and results will follow. It’s about winning, yes, but also about raising the level of each player.”
The Spurs boss was also enthusiastic about Mathys Tel’s permanent signing following his successful loan spell.
“I’m very excited about Mathys,” Frank said. “He can play across the front line, he’s a natural scorer, and we can help him become more consistent in his movement and finishing. There’s a lot of potential there.”
Frank now faces the challenge of translating his ideas into results, with a strong focus on building momentum before the new Premier League season kicks off.
