Dutch forward set for Napoli medical on Tuesday

Dutch midfielder, Noa Lang is set for his medical on Tuesday with Serie A champions Napoli after arriving Italy this evening. Softfootball can inform that Lang will complete his transfer from PSV Eindhoven for €25m plus add-ons if he passes the medical. The deal also includes a 10 per cent sell on clause.

Football italia claims that the former Club Brugge player who just turned 26 in June is keen on a switch to the Stadio Diego Armando Maradona.

The deal had some minor delays because of the issue of image rights between a company representing Lang and his agents, but that was resolved and the deal is finally in motion and near completion.

Lang who came up through the Ajax youth academy was born in the Netherlands, Lang is of Surinamese descent through his biological father. He is a youth international for the Netherlands. Lang considers himself Dutch, Surinamese and Moroccan but can’t internationally represent the latter due to not having Moroccan citizenship.

On 8 October 2021, he made his debut for the Netherlands national team in a World Cup qualifier against Latvia. Lang was named in the final Netherlands squad for the 2022 FIFA World Cup and went on to make 14 senior caps for the Netherlands.

In May 2021, a video circulated online showing Lang joining an antisemitic chant of the Club Brugge supporters aimed at rival Anderlecht, who is seen as historically linked to the Jewish community. He was investigated by the Royal Belgian Football Association.

Lang, who played with Ajax, before joining Club Brugge, was defended by the team’s organisation claiming that there was no anti-Semitic undertone.

The RBFA condemned his behavior. The Belgian Foreign Minister Sophie Wilmès declared:

“Unacceptable, unbearable and it has no place in our society.

“We must fight it as vigorously as all other forms of racism”,

Political parties condemned the chant, while he was obliged by the Federal prosecutor’s office to visit the Kazern Dossin Centre as a disciplinary measure.

Softfootball reported earlier that Napoli failed to land Darwin Nunez from Liverpool as the Reds rejected €55million bid from Antonio Conte’s men. The Uruguayan could’ve been a teammate to Lang for the 2025/26 season.

Lang joined PSV Eindhoven for €12.5m in the summer of 2023 before his latest move to Napoli.
