Liverpool are not holding back this summer the Merseyside giants have now turned their attention to Newcastle United’s prized striker, Alexander Isak. Despite reports of a staggering £120 million offer from Liverpool, sources close to Newcastle have made it clear: Isak is not for sale.
According to Softfootball, the Swedish international has been on the radar of both Liverpool and Arsenal over the past year thanks to his remarkable performances in a Newcastle shirt. And now, the reigning Premier League champions are seriously pushing for his signature, prepared to break British transfer records to make it happen.

The news of Liverpool’s approach Coincided with Newcastle’s own pursuit of Hugo Ekitike, the Eintracht Frankfurt forward who is also reportedly admired by the Reds. While Liverpool seem ready to go all in on Isak, Newcastle are digging their heels in.
As reported by The Telegraph, Newcastle’s firm stance remains unchanged, despite the growing pressure from the Reds. Internally, the timing of Liverpool’s interest is viewed as a strategic ploy to destabilise the 24-year-old striker. So far, Isak himself has shown no desire to leave St James’ Park.
Liverpool’s summer rebuild is already in full swing, with high-profile arrivals like Jeremie Frimpong, Milos Kerkez, and Florian Wirtz. And with Darwin Núñez expected to leave following an underwhelming season, the club is prioritising a new number 9 for the 2025/26 campaign.
Napoli and several Saudi Arabian clubs are reportedly monitoring Núñez’s availability. Should Liverpool succeed in prising Isak from the Magpies, it would mark another major statement in the transfer market, one even more significant than their £116m capture of Wirtz from Bayer Leverkusen.
Still, with Newcastle unwilling to negotiate and Liverpool also keeping tabs on Ekitike, the summer saga is far from over. As it stands, Alexander Isak remains central to the Magpies’ plans after a blistering season where he scored 23 league goals, second only to Mohamed Salah.
