Arsenal strike £52m deal to sign Chelsea winger Noni Madueke

Softfootball has confirmed that both Arsenal and Chelsea have reached an agreement for Noni Madueke.  Arsenal have sealed an agreement with Chelsea to sign winger Noni Madueke in a deal worth around £52 million, including add-ons, according to Fabrizio Romano.

The 22-year-old has already agreed to personal terms with the Gunners and is expected to undergo a medical shortly after Chelsea’s Club World Cup campaign concludes. Barring any late complications, Madueke will join Mikel Arteta’s side ahead of their preseason tour.

The move brings an end to Madueke’s time at Stamford Bridge, where he struggled for regular starts under both Mauricio Pochettino and new boss Enzo Maresca. With intense competition in Chelsea’s front line, minutes were limited, despite the England international showing flashes of his attacking quality.

Madueke arrived from PSV Eindhoven in January 2023 and made 92 appearances for the Blues, tallying 29 goal contributions. His departure is also seen as a strategic one for Chelsea, who continue to offload players to meet UEFA’s Financial Fair Play requirements. The sale will help balance their books ahead of Champions League squad registration.

At Arsenal, Madueke is expected to provide cover and competition for Bukayo Saka and Gabriel Martinelli in a tightly contested front three. The Gunners have been active in strengthening their wide options and view Madueke as a key addition with long-term upside.

Chelsea, meanwhile, are expected to continue trimming their squad as they push ahead with their summer rebuild under Maresca.

Madueke has contributed to Arsenal’s and Mikel Arteta’s increased number of signings in the summer transfer window. As Softfootball had earlier reported, Arsenal announced the arrival of new midfielder, Christian Norgaard from Brentford.

Norgaard became the Gunners’ third signing of this transfer window, with the early arrivals of Kepa Arrizabalaga and Martin Zubimendi.

The 31-year-old midfielder arrives from Brentford, where he made 196 appearances in all competitions, including 122 in the Premier League, scoring 13 goals and assisting 18 times, and also captained the side for 2 years from 2023.
