Aston Villa plan £43m Ferran Torres swoop

Premier League side, Aston Villa has reportedly offered £43m for Barcelona forward, Ferran Torres, Softfootball reports. The former Manchester City star has been a subject of transfer speculation but always insists that he wants to stay at the Camp Nou.

According to Sportsmole, Aston Villa are desperate to beef up their attack for the coming season after they failed to sign Marcus Rashford on a permanent deal following a successful loan. Also Marco Asensio returned to parent club Paris Saint German.

Unai Emery is looking to beef up Villa’s attack ahead of next season’s Europa League and Premier League campaign and Torres is the Spaniard’s top priority.

Torres played a major part for Barcelona last season as they won a domestic treble, scoring 19 times and registering seven assists in 45 appearances in all competitions, including 10 goals and six assists in 27 La Liga outings.

Last season, Villa tried to sign Torres but Barcelona rejected their proposal which was less than €20m (£17m) at the time. And like last season, Torres is determined to stay at Barcelona, but he is aware that he will have limited playing time at the club.

However, it remains a doubt if Barcelona would allow Torres join Manchester City after they failed to sign Nico Williams from Athletic Bilbao. Hansi Flick would prefer for a player to come in before a sale could happen.

After failure to sign are currently blessed with wingers in Lamine Yamal and Raphinha but wants backup and are monitoring Manchester United’s Marcus Rashford if they can’t sign Liverpool’s Luis Diaz this summer.

Softfootball reported earlier that Marcus Rashford is open to a move to Barcelona but the priority for the Catalan club is to keep Torres if they cannot sign any of their preferred targets.

Torres joined Barcelona in January 2022 from Manchester City, and has made 158 appearances in all competitions, scoring 44 goals and registering 20 assists in the process.
