Rodrygo’s Agent Snubs Arsenal as Real Madrid Future Unfolds

Rodrygo Silva

Arsenal’s pursuit of Real Madrid star Rodrygo is hitting a standstill, with the player’s father and agent showing no interest in engaging with the Premier League side. The Gunners, eager to bolster their attack after another trophyless campaign, have placed Rodrygo and Athletic Bilbao’s Nico Williams at the top of their summer shortlist.

Despite interest from Chelsea and clubs in Saudi Arabia, Arsenal remain particularly attentive to Rodrygo’s situation. The 24-year-old Brazilian winger endured a frustrating campaign last season, seeing his involvement under Carlo Ancelotti reduced, culminating in a notable omission from Madrid’s Copa del Rey final loss to Barcelona. That snub raised eyebrows and sparked speculation over his future.

Madrid are reportedly open to offers around €80 million (£67.5m), and both Arsenal and Chelsea have made enquiries. However, any negotiations are currently stalled as Rodrygo’s father and representative, Eric Goes, remains resistant to discussing a move. The winger, who has three years remaining on his Madrid contract, is said to be enjoying a resurgence in morale since Xabi Alonso replaced Ancelotti at the helm.

Alonso has reportedly taken a hands-on approach with Rodrygo in training, helping restore the Brazilian’s confidence. Rodrygo is believed to feel optimistic about his future under the new regime, and his performance in the Club World Cup could be crucial in shaping the next steps.

Gabriel Magalhaes, Rodrygo’s international teammate and Arsenal defender, added to the buzz by praising him on a recent podcast but admitted he had no inside knowledge. Though he called Rodrygo a “phenomenon” and said he’d love to play alongside him, he noted nothing was in motion yet.

Xabi Alonso has been clear in his stance, insisting Rodrygo is central to Madrid’s plans. He recently confirmed the club’s commitment to the winger, saying Rodrygo is a key player and will be essential for the team moving forward.

While Arsenal monitor the situation closely, Rodrygo’s fate seems increasingly tied to how things unfold under Alonso at Real Madrid in the weeks ahead.
