Mykhailo Mudryk, 23, has taken a lie detector test to clear his name after receiving a provisional doping suspension. The Chelsea forward tested positive for a banned substance following a urine test in the UK last autumn.

Mudryk believes the positive result was caused by a contaminated supplement and has maintained his innocence. The substance found was Meldonium, and if confirmed, could result in a ban of up to four years. The player, who last appeared for Chelsea in November, has expressed his shock and confusion at the test results, saying he’s unaware of how the substance entered his system.

Shakhtar Donetsk’s CEO, Sergei Palkin, shared that Mudryk is desperate to clear his name and has been in regular communication with him. “He has no idea how this happened,” Palkin said. “His lawyers organized a lie detector test, which Mudryk passed. This will be part of his evidence to prove he didn’t intentionally break any rules.”

Despite the provisional suspension, Mudryk remains hopeful, stating, “I know I haven’t done anything wrong,” and is working with his team to resolve the matter. There are still no results from his B-sample, leaving the case open. Mudryk’s legal team is determined to uncover how the banned substance ended up in his system.

The situation has also caused concern for Shakhtar Donetsk, which has bonuses tied to Mudryk’s Chelsea performances, including a potential €30 million payout. As Mudryk, Chelsea, and Shakhtar navigate the issue together, the focus remains on clearing up the mystery behind the positive test.

Mudryk’s recent social media post, in which he responded emotionally to a video of his past performances, shows the personal toll the suspension is taking on him. Fans and colleagues alike continue to support the 23-year-old, with hopes that the issue will soon be resolved.
