Everton return to the Hill Dickinson Stadium with renewed belief after stunning Aston Villa 1-0 at Villa Park, a result few saw coming given Unai Emery’s side had won 11 straight home matches before the Toffees arrived.
Thierno Barry’s second-half chip secured Everton’s first league win of 2026 and lifted David Moyes’ men back into the top half, just four points off the Champions League places at the time of writing.

While their away form has been impressive in recent weeks, Everton still have work to do in front of their home fans. The Toffees have lost three and drawn one of their last four league matches on their own turf, and Moyes will be eager to correct that trend.
Softfootball reported that Despite questions around their lack of a clinical number nine, Everton have only failed to score three times at home this season.
Leeds United, however, travel to Merseyside with quiet confidence of their own. Daniel Farke’s tactical shift to a 3-5-2 has transformed the Whites into a far more disciplined side, losing just once in their last 10 games across all competitions.
Their recent win over Fulham at Elland Road, courtesy of a late Lukas Nmecha strike, underlined the team’s resilience.
That said, Leeds’ away struggles in the Premier League remain a concern. The visitors are without a win in their last eight top-flight matches on the road, though they did beat Everton 1-0 in the reverse fixture earlier in the season and also played out a 1-1 draw with Manchester United.

Team News
Everton could welcome back AFCON winners Idrissa Gueye and Iliman Ndiaye, although both will be assessed after returning late to training. Jack Grealish is ruled out with a stress fracture, while Michael Keane is suspended. Jarrad Branthwaite, Carlos Alcaraz and Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall are back in training but remain doubtful.
Leeds will be without Jaka Bijol for several weeks due to a hamstring injury, while Daniel James is also sidelined. Gabriel Gudmundsson faces a late fitness test, but Anton Stach is pushing for a return. Nmecha’s recent heroics could earn him a start.
Possible Lineups
Everton: Pickford; Patterson, O’Brien, Tarkowski, Mykolenko; Garner, Rohl; Ndiaye, Armstrong, McNeil; Barry
Leeds United: Darlow; Justin, Struijk, Rodon; Bogle, Stach, Aaronson, Ampadu, Gudmundsson; Nmecha, Calvert-Lewin
Prediction
Both teams come into this fixture with renewed momentum but contrasting home and away records. Everton’s home struggles and Leeds’ away-day woes suggest this could be another tightly contested affair. A draw appears the most likely outcome.
