Manchester United’s post-season tour in Asia has caused tension within the squad, with several players reportedly frustrated over having to travel instead of enjoying a break. Their frustration followed a disappointing campaign that saw them finish 15th in the Premier League and fail to secure a single trophy.

The situation worsened after a humiliating 1-0 defeat to the ASEAN All-Stars, which was followed by a 3-1 win over Hong Kong. Despite the victory, morale remained low throughout the tour. Reports indicate the players were upset at the timing of the matches and the disruption to their off-season plans.

In the middle of growing unrest, captain Bruno Fernandes stepped in to help ease tensions. After the ASEAN loss, a group of players and staff gathered at a hotel bar, where Fernandes covered the cost of their drinks for the night. His gesture, though small, was appreciated as it helped lift the mood among the group.

Fernandes’s own future, however, remains uncertain. Linked heavily with Saudi Arabian club Al-Hilal, the midfielder is rumored to be the subject of a £100m offer. The Saudi side is reportedly ready to offer him a staggering £700,000-a-week contract, tax-free, in a three-year deal worth up to £200m in total.

Back at United, speculation continues over whether Fernandes will stay or leave this summer. Some within the squad are reportedly concerned about losing their leader, fearing that his exit could further destabilize the dressing room. Others believe it could be the right time for the club to cash in and rebuild.

United coach Ruben Amorim, however, is hopeful that Fernandes will remain at Old Trafford. With no European football next season and mounting pressure to refresh the squad, the coming weeks will be crucial in shaping both the captain’s and the club’s future.

Meanwhile, pundits like Jamie Redknapp believe United should consider accepting the lucrative offer for Fernandes to reinvest in the squad and turn a new page.
