Frustration is growing around Arsenal’s transfer dealings as their search for a new striker drags on, with alternative options now entering the conversation. Former Watford captain Troy Deeney believes Yoane Wissa from Brentford could be the under-the-radar solution Mikel Arteta needs.

Wissa, who netted 19 goals and added four assists in his best Premier League season yet, has emerged as a potential bargain. With only a year left on his contract, Brentford could be open to negotiations, offering Arsenal a chance to secure a proven top-flight performer without the inflated fees currently being quoted elsewhere.
Arsenal had initially targeted Viktor Gyokeres from Sporting CP, whose goal-scoring exploits made him a standout candidate. However, protracted talks and complications with both the player’s camp and the Portuguese club have forced the Gunners to cool their interest.
RB Leipzig’s Benjamin Sesko has since become the main focus, though his £70 million price tag is proving to be a challenge. Other names like Victor Osimhen and Ollie Watkins have also been linked, but no deal has materialized—raising concerns that Arsenal may be moving too slowly.

Deeney pointed to Liverpool’s proactive approach, securing early signings like Jeremie Frimpong and potentially Florian Wirtz, as a model Arsenal should follow. He highlighted how even Manchester United are already closing deals, while Arsenal still have no new striker.
Despite Wissa not being mentioned among Arsenal’s top-tier targets, Deeney emphasized his adaptability across the front line and ability to fit into Arteta’s system. The suggestion comes amid concerns that Arsenal’s reluctance to spend aggressively could leave them empty-handed once again.
With the Gunners finishing another season without silverware, pressure is mounting on the club’s hierarchy to act decisively. As other Premier League clubs accelerate their summer business, Arsenal risk falling behind unless they quickly turn attention to accessible, high-performing players like Wissa.
