Arsenal are intensifying their pursuit of Benjamin Sesko as RB Leipzig signal their willingness to sell the striker quickly this summer. The 21-year-old forward impressed this season with 21 goals in 45 appearances, but Leipzig’s failure to secure European football has forced them into considering a sale.
RB Leipzig have reportedly informed Sesko he’s free to leave if a deal is reached swiftly. A transfer to Arsenal could be completed as early as next week, with the German club aiming for a fast resolution. While Leipzig are hoping for a fee around £85 million, a more realistic figure near £60 million could get the deal over the line.
Sesko, who moved from RB Salzburg for €24 million last year, originally signed a five-year deal with a release clause that has since increased to over £66 million. He’s currently sidelined with a knee injury and didn’t feature in Leipzig’s recent 3-1 win during their Brazil tour.
Arsenal are also monitoring other attacking options. Talks with Sporting CP have taken place over Viktor Gyokeres, who finished the season with a remarkable 54 goals in 52 games and led his team to a domestic double. Arsenal’s offer reportedly includes a €70 million fee and a five-year contract worth £110,000 a week.
Meanwhile, the Gunners are on the verge of finalising a £51 million deal for Real Sociedad’s Martin Zubimendi, who is set to undergo a medical before joining Mikel Arteta’s squad.
