Liverpool legend John Barnes has revealed that former England star Glenn Hoddle is the most technically gifted player he has ever seen in his life, Softfootball reports.
Barnes, who watched Liverpool demolish Marseille 3-0 in France has remained a loyal Reds ambassador since he retired from football. He has refused to go into coaching like his colleagues but he is a very good pundit as he helps breakdown tactics for audiences around the world.

Barnes was a guest of OverLap’s official podcast where he glowingly talked about the most influential player he knows and the most technically gifted player he has come across. He revealed:
Allan Hansen, he is the most influential player I ever played with. You talk about someone bringing the ball out from the back and in terms of playing modern football now, Alan Hansen was incredible. You could not get the ball off him. He could get out from the back. Him and Virgil van Dijk for me in the last 40 years whatever. The most technically gifted player I’ve ever seen in my life is Glenn Hoddle. I mean, you could’ve had him in England as a manager but as a player, he was incredible. He played at a time when English football was about that technique but Glenn was incredible.
Barnes’ former side Liverpool will be involved against Bournemouth in the premier league match-day 23 today as they hope the stop a bad run of four consecutive matches without a win domestically.
