Unai Emery admitted his frustration after Aston Villa suffered a narrow 1-0 defeat to Everton at Villa Park on Sunday, a result that ended the club’s unbeaten home run since August 2025 and marked their first home loss to the Toffees since 2016, Softfootball reports.
Villa struggled to impose themselves against a disciplined Everton side and were unable to find a way back after conceding, making it a disappointing afternoon for the home supporters despite the team’s strong recent form.

Speaking after the match via the club’s official X handle, Emery acknowledged both the disappointment of the result and the need for his side to recover quickly.

The defeat comes just days after Emery was named Premier League Manager of the Month for December, following an impressive run that saw Aston Villa lose just once in six league matches. However, January has proven more challenging, with Villa recording only one win in their last four Premier League outings.
Despite the recent dip, Emery’s side remain firmly in the hunt for a top-four finish, and the Spaniard will be eager to see his team respond quickly as they look to return to winning ways and maintain their strong position in the league table.
Villa will now turn their focus to the upcoming fixtures, with Emery stressing the importance of mental recovery and consistency as the season enters a crucial phase.
