Oliver Glasner has confirmed he will leave Crystal Palace at the end of the season, bringing clarity to months of speculation around his future at Selhurst Park. The Austrian coach, who delivered the club’s first-ever FA Cup triumph and later guided them to a historic Community Shield win, has decided not to sign a new deal when his contract expires in June.

Speaking ahead of Palace’s upcoming fixture, Glasner explained that the decision was not sudden or influenced by recent events. He revealed that he had already made up his mind months ago and informed chairman Steve Parish during an international break meeting in October.

According to Glasner, both sides agreed to keep the conversation private to avoid unnecessary distractions, a period that has also seen Palace captain Marc Guehi close in on a move away from the club, as reported by SoftFootball.

Glasner made it clear in a post shared by Fabrizio Romano’s official X account that his motivation is personal growth rather than dissatisfaction. He explained that after achieving historic milestones with Palace, he felt the time was right to test himself elsewhere.

Fabrizio Romano posted:

BREAKING: Oliver Glasner confirms he will LEAVE Crystal Palace in June, NOT signing a new deal at the club.

I already informed the club months ago that I wanted a NEW CHALLENGE.

Exclusive story since December, confirmed.

As he put it:

We had a very long talk, and I told him I will not sign a new contract. We agreed it was best to keep it between us.

He also stressed that the decision had nothing to do with the January transfer window or recruitment frustrations. The confirmation has reignited links between Glasner and Manchester United, who are expected to appoint a permanent manager in the summer following recent upheaval at Old Trafford.

United have been in interim mode after Ruben Amorim’s exit and the appointment of Michael Carrick as caretaker, developments previously covered by SoftFootball. Despite the speculation, Glasner insisted his focus remains fully on Crystal Palace for the remainder of the campaign.

He reassured supporters and players of his commitment, saying:

I haven’t spoken to any other club. I promised the players today I will give my best to deliver the best season in Crystal Palace history.

With Palace still competing in Europe and fighting to finish strongly in the league, Glasner’s final months will be about ending a remarkable chapter on a high note before a new era begins.
