Premier League side, Brentford has officially unveiled new signing Kaye Furo, who joined the club on a five-and-a-half-year deal for €10m plus add-ons from Belgian side Club Brugge, Softfootball reports.
On Friday, football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano confirmed that the deal had been agreed and the youngster was on his way for medical at the club. He has since past the medical and now put pen on paper with his new club.
Today, Brentford announced the arrival of the highly rated player via their official X handle with a short statement. It read:
We’re delighted to announce the signing of forward Kaye Furo from Club Brugge on a five-and-a-half-year contract, subject to international clearance and work permit ✍️🐝
Brentford’s head coach Keith Andrews added:
Kaye is someone we have tracked for a while that we are really excited about bringing to the club. His attributes are ones that I like and feel we can develop within the environment we have created. I have no doubt he will be a big player for us.
The 18-year-old must have been impressed by his new club as Brantford hammered Everton 4-2 at the Hill Dickinson Stadium in their last away match in the premier league before he joined.
Interestingly, Kaye Furo is the son of former Super Eagles of Nigeria defender, Furo Iyenemi. He moved to France and began playing career for Paris Saint-Germain’s reserve side in 1995. He signed a contract with Belgian Pro League club K.S.V. Waregem in 1997.
Furo Iyenemi acquired Belgian citizenship and moved to Swiss Super League side FC Sion. In January 2003, Iyenemi joined Greek Superleague side Akratitos F.C., where he would make 7 league appearances before leaving the club.
He played for Nigeria at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney. He captained the team as they reached the last eight of the tournament. Iyenemi played for the Nigeria U-23 national team at the 2000 African Cup of Nations finals, making five appearances as Nigeria finished runners-up.
