Chelsea manager Enzo Maresca provides update on Liam Delap’s shoulder injury

Chelsea manager, Enzo Maresca has provided an update Liam Delap’s shoulder injury which he picked up during the premier league match-day 15, Softfootball reports.

The former Ipswich striker was in the starting line-up for the Blues when they visited the Vitality stadium on Saturday evening but was substituted early after a heavy collision with a defender as Chelsea played out a goalless draw against Bournemouth.

After the encounter, Enzo Maresca spoke about the player who only recently returned from a long injury layoff, in an interview shared via Chelsea’s official X handle. He said:

Unfortunately, he has already been out for two months and he has to be out again. We don’t know for how long, but it looks quite bad, his shoulder. He has been unlucky. We are also a bit unlucky because we need that kind of a No.9.

Delap scored his first UEFA Champions League goal during Chelsea’s 3-0 victory over Barcelona last month and was hoping to play regularly for the Blues after his return from injury. He was in midweek when Maresca’s men lost to Leeds United.

Delap made his debut for Chelsea during the FIFA Club World Cup and had an assist as Chelsea defeated LAFC 2-0. His first Blues goal came against Esperance in the final group game in the same tournament and was there as Chelsea won it all with a 3-0 victory over Paris Saint-Germain in the final.
