Tottenham Hotspur come under pressure after a run of defeats in their recent league games. Their home form hasn’t been good enough either, losing to Aston Villa, Chelsea and the recent 2-1 defeat from Fulham added to the list. This match could be a chance for them to bounce back.

Brentford shared the match schedule on their official X handle:

Brentford has had a mixed form lately, losing some matches and winning some. One notable performance was when they brushed past Liverpool in a cool 3-2 Premier League victory.

In Tottenham’s last 9 meetings with Brentford, they dominated the matches, winning 5 while Brentford won just one and 3 matches ended up with a draw.

Tottenham Hotspur’s head coach, Thomas Frank spoke ahead of the game in a pre match conference which was shared on the club’s official X handle.

Since he was once the head coach of Brentford, he talked about what it felt like going to meet familiar players,

That’s the nature of football. Before the game and after, maybe not the 10 seconds after, but after I’m looking forward to seeing good people. I enjoyed working with players, staff and everyone. During the game it’s about competing and winning the match. It’s like playing a padel game against good colleagues, when we’re playing it’s not for fun – it’s competitive – but after we can be happy again.”

He also gave updates on his players including Xavi Simon, saying,

Xavi has trained fantastic the last whatever five, six times. Very good attitude on the training pitch, I like that a lot. We’ve played different games with different lineups and I think Xavi was towards something better and better. Just like Matty, trained well, good attitude and we’re getting closer and he’s come on in the last four games.

Brentford Coach, Keith Andrews also spoke in a pre-match interview shared on the club’s official X handle. He talked about his team and their preparedness for the match. He gave his thoughts on Igor Thiago, saying:

I’m not going to tell you the team, but he’s clearly in a good place. He’s playing very, very well. He’s going from strength to strength and we seem to be speaking about him a lot. And rightly so because he’s been magnificent. His mental strength is pretty evident, considering the type of season he had last year, where he’s come from in his career, playing in different countries and now ending up here, having an impact in the most demanding league in the world.

Concerning what he thinks about their opponent, he said,

I have the utmost respect for Thomas Frank. He’s a top manager. They are in the Champions League. They won the Europa League last year and obviously have a lot of quality players who we are fully aware of

Team News

Tottenham has more injury concerns. Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison and Radu Dragusin all have knee injuries. Kota Takai has an injury on his foot. Dominic Solanke is faced with an ankle injury.

For Brentford, Antoni Milambo and Fabio Carvalho are both faced with knee injuries and would not be participating.

Possible Lineups

Tottenham Hotspur (4-2-3-1)

Vicario; Porro, Romero, Van de Ven, Udogie; Sarr, Bentancur; Kudus, Bergvall, Johnson; Kolo Muani

Brentford (4-2-3-1)

Kelleher; Kayode, Collins, Van den Berg, Lewis-Potter; Yarmoliuk, Henderson; Ouattara, Damsgaard, Schade; Thiago

Prediction

Tottenham’s need for points to end their poor run will make them play with strong determination using home advantage and attacking strength. While Brentford will give them a hard time especially if they stay organised.

The game will likely end in a 1-1 draw for both teams.
