Softfootball reported that Wirtz had joined Liverpool from Bayer Leverkusen this summer and even won German Football Player of 2025. Since his joining, his adaptation has been gradual, leaving many wondering if he’ll shine right away.

While Wirtz is endowed with talent and potential, Van Dijk mentioned that patience was needed concerning him. Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano echoed his words on his official X handle, saying:

Van Dijk on Flo Wirtz: “There’s a very good reason why a club like us bought him: he’s an outstanding, world-class player in my eyes”. “He can only become even better but it will take a bit of time. For him he has to stay level-headed, don’t get too high, don’t get too low”.

Football star, Van Dijk has seen many players struggle under pressure at a big club, so his urging everyone to be calm and give Flo something makes a lot of sense.

After all, what matters is steady growth and staying focused in spite of criticism and high expectations. Dominik Szoboszlai had also greatly acknowledged and commended Wirtz after his performance in the Champions League match against Real Madrid which shows that Wirtz isn’t doing bad in his progress too.

It’s a good thing that Wirtz is backed up by one of the club’s top players and according to him, Wirtz has the ability to become a top player too.
