Milan Aim to Extend Unbeaten Run Against Lazio in Coppa Italia

3 Min Read

Lazio and AC Milan meet again, just five days after their last encounter, this time in the Coppa Italia last-16 on Thursday evening. Milan managed to scrape a 1-0 win at San Siro in the league, but now they have got the tricky trip to Rome, and Lazio will be hoping that playing at home can give them a little edge.

Team News

Lazio still has a few injuries to deal with. Samuel Gigot, Matteo Cancellieri, Nicolo Rovella, and Danilo Cataldi are out, while Valentin Castellanos is just back after a seven-week absence.

He only made the bench on Saturday, so expect either Tijjani Noslin or Boulaye Dia to lead the attack. Sarri might shuffle things a bit since they’ve got a tough league match against Bologna this weekend.

Milan, meanwhile, has a couple of their own problems. Fofana and Santiago Gimenez are both out with muscle injuries.

Pulisic, who has scored a couple of goals in the cup already, also scored the only goal in the Milan derby against Inter Milan. Following their 1-0 win against Roma, as reported by Softfootball, he might not start, so Leao and Christopher Nkunku could keep leading the line.

Allegri is likely to field a fairly strong starting eleven, though his attacking options are a little thin at the moment.

The club posted a video of Allegri speaking ahead of the game via their official X account.

Possible Lineups

Lazio (3-4-2-1): Mandas; Lazzari, Patric, Romagnoli, Tavares; Guendouzi, Belahyane, Basic; Pedro, Noslin, Zaccagni

AC Milan (4-4-2): Maignan; Tomori, Gabbia, Pavlovic; Saelemaekers, Ricci, Modric, Rabiot, Estupinan; Nkunku, Leao

Softfootball’s Prediction

Saturday’s 1-0 league game shows how tight this rivalry can be. Both sides have kept several clean sheets so far this season. It’s likely going to be another low-scoring, tense game. Milan’s unbeaten streak is now up to 13 matches, and even away from home, they look just strong enough to progress.

prediction: Lazio 1-2 AC Milan
