Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim has provided a major boost ahead of Sunday’s Premier League trip to Crystal Palace, confirming that Lisandro Martínez is officially in contention to play.

Amorim further downplayed concerns about the unusual early kickoff affecting United’s preparation, insisting the timing will not disrupt the team’s matchday rhythm or readiness.

Speaking via Manchester United’s official YouTube page, Amorim explained that the Argentine defender who returned to the matchday squad against Everton after a long injury layoff, has reached a point where he can finally contribute again.

Amorim made it clear that Martínez’s presence on the bench on Monday night was no formality. He said;

If he is on the bench, he is ready,
Of course, we need to control his minutes but, if he is on the bench, he is ready to play.

Amorim also stressed the noon start will have no adverse affect on his team’s preparations for the assignment in the capital, saying:

If you play for Manchester United, if you have to play at seven o’clock in the morning, we need to be prepared for that, It’s a pleasure and it’s a big responsibility.

Softfootball understands that during his Friday press conference, Amorim also ruled Matheus Cunha, Harry Maguire, and Benjamin Sesko out of the trip to Selhurst Park. On the opposite end, Palace manager Oliver Glasner confirmed that captain Marc Guehi will feature on Sunday, despite being withdrawn at half-time in their UEFA Conference League defeat to Strasbourg.

Sunday’s encounter marks another crucial moment in United’s 2025/26 campaign, as they aim to secure a second away victory of the season and build momentum after a turbulent start.
